Men's Soccer Plays to 3-3 Draw in Tahlequah

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Southern Nazarene battled to a 3-3 draw against Northeastern State Wednesday night in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

The Crimson Storm (5-2-2, 2-0-2 GAC) and the RiverHawks (1-6-2, 0-2-2 GAC) combined for six goals in a wild match that saw five goals in a 24-minute span in the second half.

Northeastern State struck first late in the first half. Martin Martinez opened the scoring in the 43rd minute to put NSU in front 1-0 at the break.

Southern Nazarene responded after halftime. Tiago Moreira leveled the match from the penalty spot in the 54th minute, and Wesley Rodriguez gave SNU its first lead in the 72nd minute for his third goal of the season.

The Storm extended the advantage just minutes later. Kaden Slaven netted his first of the year in the 76th minute, assisted by Jordy Vasquez, to make it 3-1 SNU.

The lead was short-lived. The RiverHawks responded just 27 seconds later as Carter Adams cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 76th minute, assisted by Edson Marchan. Avelino Rosa finished the comeback in the 78th minute off an assist from Joshua Adeyemi to even the match at 3-3.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the final 13 minutes, but the defenses held to secure the draw.

Northeastern State held the edge in shots 21-17, including 12-9 on frame. Aimar Aramendia and the SNU defense finished with 9 saves on the night, while NSU was credited with 6 saves.
