SHWANEE — Jackie Acevedo may be putting Southern Nazarene on her back for the season after the junior scored two goals, including the game winner in a 3-2 win over Oklahoma Baptist.
The Crimson Storm (5-5, 2-1 SAC) have won two straight Sooner Athletic Conference matches thanks in part to Acevedo. She has scored five goals in the last two matches, 10 in the last five and has 12 of the teams 25 goals this season.
Acevedo put SNU on the board in the 24th minute on a 1-v-1 and Kira Dowis followed that up just 22 seconds later on an assist from Kayla Thompson to give the Crimson Storm a 2-0 lead and carried that into the half.
Acevedo then put SNU up 3-0 with a goal in the 57th minute on a Kendra Nixon assist and that goal ended up being the payoff as the Bison scored two in the final 27 minutes of the contest.
Cara Cecil scored in the 64th minute before Kirsten Betterton made it a 3-2 match with less than 18 minutes to play, but that was as close as the Bison came.
Rachael Wade rebounded back from an injury that forced her out of the game at John Brown with three saves. OBU's Sarah Robinson made four stop in goal.
SNU peppered Robinson early taking seven shots in the first half and four in the second with seven total being on goal. OBU took just one shot in the first half before taking nine in the second with five being on goal.
The Crimson Storm will now get set to host USAO Friday at 6 p.m.
