2017-18
· Received Great American Conference All-Academic Team honors as a junior
· Competed in eight events on the season
· Posted a career-best 9.54 in the 60-meters hurdles at the UCO Open
· Took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.96 meters at the 2018 Oklahoma Baptist Invite
2016-17
· Competed in two events as a sophomore
2015-16
· Competed in 13 events as a freshman
· Earned three top-10 finishes on the season
· Posted a season-best time of 1:01.89 in the 400 hurtles while finishing ninth at the Southwestern Relays
· Finished tenth in the 110 hurtles with a time of 17.45 at the Great American Conference Track & Field Championships
· Also posted collegiate best times with a 25.26 in the 200 meter and a season-best 9.69 in the 60 meter hurtles
HIGH SCHOOL
· Prepped four varsity seasons for Olathe South High School, where he graduated in 2015
· Also played varsity football for the Falcons
PERSONAL
· Born July 3, 1996, to Stephen and Robyn Essex
· Has two brothers, Holden and Hayden
· Father played football and ran track at Mid-America Nazarene, while his mother ran track at Mid-America Nazarene
· Majoring in biochemistry with a minor in Spanish
· Plans to go to medical school to become a doctor
