Steve Hulsey begins his 17th season as the Head Coach of the Crimson Storm men's and women's golf programs. The NAIA Hall of Fame Inductee (2011-12 season) has taken both the men's and women's golf programs to new heights.
Hulsey has led the Crimson Storm women's golf program to the 1999 and 2002 NAIA National Championship. Under Hulsey, SNU's men’s and women’s golf program's have become one of the most dominant programs in the nation. Under his leadership, SNU golf has seen unprecedented success in his 16-year tenure.
Steve has twice been named the NAIA National Coach-of-the-Year, in 1999 and 2002, and has two National Title rings. Steve was also the Region VI Coach-of-the-Year in 2002. The Crimson Storm women's golf program finished in the Top 10 in the nation for eleven consecutive years (1997-2007), including a National Runner-Up Trophy in 1998 and two National Titles in 1999 and 2002.
In 2010 he led his men's team to an eighth place finish at the NAIA National Championship and took that team back to the national tournament last year as the Crimson Storm finished 14th.
In 2010, Hulsey led the Crimson Storm women’s golf program to their 15th consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance and a 16th place finish at Nationals. SNU's women's program has been to the NAIA National Tournament every season of their existence, except for 2011.
In 2007, Hulsey led the women’s program to a 7th place finish in the NAIA National Championships after having SNU ranked number four throughout much of the season.
Hulsey has also taken the SNU men's golf program to ten NAIA National Tournament appearances. Two seasons ago, Hulsey guided the men's program to a 13th place finish at the NAIA National Tournament and had SNU ranked 12th in the final National Poll. This past season, SNU’s men’s program was ranked throughout much of the year, but missed making the national tournament.
In 16 seasons, leading one team to national prominence would be amazing, but Hulsey has managed to take both the SNU men's and women's programs to elite status among NAIA programs and has solidified himself as one of the top coaches in the country.
Hulsey is a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas and graduated from Southern Nazarene University with a degree in Religion.
Steve and his wife Janet reside in Oklahoma City and have three children; Janna, Jill, and Jessica.
