Biography
SNU Career Highlights:
Junior Season: Chepkwony was one of three Crimson Storm to run at the NAIA National Championships and was the top runner on the team. He finished 43rd overall with a time of 26:02. He took fourth at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships with his best time of the year at 25:48.98. He was in the top 15 in two different races.
Sophomore Season: Chepkwony was again dominant as a sophomore, leading the Crimson Storm throughout the 2008 season. Chepkwony earned All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors for the second consecutive season after finishing 3rd overall at the SAC Championships with a time of 25:12.00. Benson also earned his second straight spot at nationals, where he finished 42 overall out of 331 runners, posting a time of 25:32.8. Benson’s best time of the year was at the SAC Championships (25:12.00), and his highest finish was 2nd place, which he accomplshed twice.
Freshman Season: Chepkwony burst onto the conference and regional scene during his freshman campaign, earning All-Region and All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors with a 5th place finish at the Region VI/SAC Championships. Benson posted a time of 25:12 that earned the freshman a spot at the NAIA National Championships. Chepkwony posted a time of 25:39 at the National Championships and was a finalist for SNU’s Male Newcomer of the Year.
