Christa Hamlett Burns-SNU Equestrian Graduate (2017)
The time I spent at the SNU barn shaped me in ways that I treasure dearly—the friends I made, the horses I got to ride, and the competitions we gave our best in, all gave me a broader perspective on life. I so dearly appreciate the bonds that were developed with friends and with the English and Western teams. It quickly became so much more than competing, it was a time to learn and grow in horsemanship and in friendship with one another. The skills I learned at the SNU barn from the coaches and manager have stayed with me and prepared me to go further in the equestrian world than I ever would have aimed for otherwise. It meant a lot to me that the staff at the barn were always open to listening to my personal life and offering sound, Christian advice—one horse person to another!
Malori Minjares-SNU Equestrian Graduate (2020)
I came to SNU knowing I was coming to a loving environment with adults who love students. My freshman year at SNU didn't go as planned. I was prepared to transfer out at the end of my freshman year. I knew there was an Equestrian program at SNU, but didn't think I belonged on the team. I went to Coach Debby Letham, who offered me a tryout for the team. Long story short, I made the team. The SNU Equestrian team and program was the reason I stayed at SNU. I was loved so well by my coaches and all those involved in the program! The SNU Equestrian program is a true testament to the University's motto of LiveLast. Being a part of this program was one big highlight of my college experience! It made an incredible impact on my life forever.
