Cheer Tryouts:    
Registration To Be Due:    March 31, 2022
Zoom Interviews:    April 2-7, 2022 
In-Person Tryout Date:   April 9, 2022  (Check-in at 12:00 p.m., tryouts from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS
  • Incoming freshmen ARE eligible to tryout but MUST be admitted at the time of their tryout. Please send proof of admittance with registration form.
  • Current and transfer students with a minimum 2.5 GPA are eligible.
  • Current SNU students must be enrolled full-time (12 hours) to be eligible.
  • Current SNU Students must be in good disciplinary and academic standing with the university. Transfer students must be disciplinarily and academically eligible to return to the university from which they are transferring.
  • The following paperwork must be signed and submitted by March 31, 2022. You must have all paperwork completed to tryout. You will receive a confirmation within 48 hours of submitting your registration.

  1. Signed Tryout Waiver (Waiver (PDF)): Scan and email to cheer@snu.edu.  (Ignore Sickle Cell information in waiver)
  2. Proof of Acceptance to SNU 
  3. Unofficial transcript for proof of 2.5 GPA
 
In-Person Tryout Format
Interview, 2 chants, 2 dances, jumps, tumbling and stunts

Interview questions:
Athletes will be asked questions to determine their intent, inspiration, and commitment to the program.


Jumps - Toe Touch, Front Hurdler, Pike, and a 3-jump sequence (tumbling out of jumps is highly encouraged)

Tumbling-   Minimum requirement:  Roundoff (All athletes will be expected to demonstrate their level of tumbling ability during tryouts)
 
Stunting-  Athletes will demonstrate their level of stunting knowledge and abilities while working with various combinations of other athletes.

TRYOUT ATTIRE
Women:  wear appropriate shoes, athletic shorts, and a white t-shirt or tank.  Please wear hair and make-up that projects a collegiate image/ game day image.
Men:  wear gym shorts and a t-shirt.
 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
All members of the SNU Crimson Spirit Teams will be required to attend Boot Camp Training and Summer Camp. These are mandatory and will be announced after tryouts.
