Crimson Storm Come Up Short Against Pittsburg State

SNU Women's Soccer falls 1-0 to Pittsburg State in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer dropped its home contest Saturday morning, falling 1-0 to Pittsburg State.

 

The Crimson Storm (0-2-1) were kept off the scoreboard by the unbeaten Gorillas (4-0). Pittsburg State broke through late in the first half as Ryann Caruth found the net, finishing an assist from Danae Hobson to make it 1-0. The goal was Caruth's fourth of the season.

 

SNU's defense settled in after the opener and kept PSU off the board the rest of the way, but the Crimson Storm couldn't find an equalizer. Southern Nazarene pushed in the second half with six of its seven shots coming after the break, but managed just three shots on goal for the morning.


Pittsburg State controlled the attack, out-shooting SNU 19-7 with an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Madaline Bailey recorded 7 saves to keep SNU within one. PSU's Jocelyn Kramar made 3 saves to earn the shutout.

 

Adison Johnson, Grace Tomlinson, and Bella Brennan each put a shot on frame.

 

Next Up

Southern Nazarene will look to get back on track as they travel to face Central Oklahoma Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 pm.
