Rangers Take 3-0 Win Over SNU in GAC Opener

Women's Soccer Drops Conference Opener

ALVA, Okla. - Southern Nazarene Women's Soccer dropped its conference opener Wednesday evening, falling 3-0 to Northwestern Oklahoma State on the road in Alva.

The Crimson Storm (1-4-1, 0-1 GAC)  were held off the scoreboard by the Rangers (5-1-1,1-0 GAC), who scored once in the first half and twice in the second. Northwestern opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Katy Jo Werner found the back of the net off an assist from Elie Dang to make it 1-0.

SNU went into the break trailing 1-0 despite generating chances in the attacking third.

Northwestern extended its lead in the 62nd minute as Cambell Tabor scored off a feed from Alyssa Hotze to make it 2-0. Werner capped the scoring in the 86th minute with her second goal of the evening, an unassisted finish, to make it 3-0.

Southern Nazarene created chances throughout the match, out-shooting Northwestern 23-16 and holding a 10-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Crimson Storm put up 17 shots in the second half alone as they pushed for a response.

Darby Boehler led SNU with six shots and two on frame, while Danika Womack added four shots with three on goal. Madaline Bailey recorded five saves in goal for the Crimson Storm.

Southern Nazarene will return home to Wes Harmon Field on Saturday, September 19 at 12:00 pm to host Southwestern Oklahoma State.
