Storm Dominates Ouachita Baptist 4-1

SNU clinches third straight conference win

ARKADELPHIA, AR. - Southern Nazarene University charged into Arkadelphia and stormed away with a 4-1 victory over Ouachita Baptist, marking their third consecutive conference win.

The Crimson Storm (6-3-1, 3-1 GAC)  started by putting pressure on the Ouachita (2-6-1, 0-3 GAC) defense. Early shots by Francisco Chong kept the Tigers goalkeeper, Dillon Staal, on his toes. Chong's first attempt only seven minutes into the game went low and center, forcing Staal to make a save. A couple of minutes later, Chong tried again, just missing the top right corner.

Unaiz Shajani snagged a slick pass from Junior Duran, sending a shot right past Staal to put SNU up 1-0 with 26:10 on the clock. Just before halftime, Ouachita tried to even the score, but Joao Goncalves shot was saved by SNU's Andrej Krivokapic. The Storm went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers made a quick comeback in the second half with a goal from Alexis Murillo, tying things up at 1-1. But the Crimson Storm was not about to let that slide for long.

With the game tied, Edwin Garcia tested Staal once again, firing a shot with 48:00 on the clock that was saved, followed shortly by another save from Krivokapic on a shot by Jacoby Welsh. Duran came through again, this time with a goal of his own, assisted by Keshon Carter, pushing the Storm ahead 2-1.

Not even two minutes later, the Crimson Storm kept the pressure on. Axel Agurcia struck with 66:40 on the clock, courtesy of an assist from Shajani, putting SNU up 3-1. To top it all off, Chong wrapped up the scoring spree with a goal set up by Niklas Stalzer, locking in the 4-1 victory.
