DALLAS, Texas - The Southern Nazarene Men's Soccer team hit the road to take on the Dallas Baptist Patriots for a Thursday night showdown in the Lone Star state. The first road game of the season for the Storm ended in favor of the Patriots, 2-1.
It was a hard-fought battle between the Storm (1-1-1, 0-0 GAC) and the Patriots (2-1, 0-0 LSC) for the full 90 minutes in Dallas. The Storm offense was persistent but they struggled to get a shot in the back of the net. The Storm outshot the Patriots 9-7 throughout the match.
The Patriots' offense was just as persistent though, and would later take an early 1-0 lead in the first half over the Storm.
The Patriots eventually tacked on to their lead in the second half within the first ten minutes, stretching their lead to 2-0. The Storm stayed the course and continued to put pressure on the Patriots.
Rinta Takagi scored a penalty shot goal for the Storm, cutting the deficit in half, 2-1.
The single goal by Takagi would be the last shot of the game for the Storm leaving them unable to gain the lead over the Patriots.
Takagi led the Storm offense with two shots, while numerous others contributed one shot. This match consisted of a good balance of offense and defense, but defense played a big role. Andrej Krivopapic would tally two saves on the night.

The Storm will return home to take on Drury University on Saturday, September 9th. The kickoff time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Wes Harmon Field.
