Box Score BETHANY, Okla. - The Southern Nazarene Men's Soccer team took the field on a warm Labor Day afternoon to go toe to toe with the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats. In a high scoring offensive battle, the Crimson Storm pulled away with a 6-4 victory over the Bearcats.
In the high scoring match, the Bearcats (0-1, 0-0 GLVC) and the Crimson Storm (1-0-1, 0-0 GAC) collected a total of 19 shots between the two just in the first half. The Storm had 14 shots alone and had eight shots on goal while scoring four of those in the first half.
The Bearcats started the scoring in the first half with an early free-kick goal. The Storm did not take long to respond with a penalty kick goal from Cesar Solis that was snuck by the Bearcats goalie. The Bearcats found an empty goal to shoot on regaining their lead to make it 2-1. Unaiz Shajani took matters into his own hands finding a way to score, tying the game, 2-2. The Storm continued to put pressure on the Bearcats adding on to their lead with an assist from Juan Rodarte to Bruno Ferreira to put the Storm up 3-2. Orlando Castro got in on the scoring fest shooting a goal in himself, putting the Storm up 4-2. A late Bearcat goal makes the score 4-3 to end the first half.
The Bearcats wasted no time scoring a goal to tie the game 4-4 within the first minute of the second half. The Storm continued to shoot and Farreria eventually got one through thanks to a nice assist from Hikaru Dojo. Ferreira then went on to score a penalty kick and his third goal of the game giving him a hat trick on the day. This goal would put the Storm up 6-4 with only four minutes remaining in the game. The Bearcats were unable to come back thanks to a tough Crimson Storm defense.

The Storm will travel to Dallas, Texas Thursday, September 7 to take on the Dallas Baptist Patriots. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
