A Storm Shutout

SNU handles business in Wichita Falls with a 3-0 victory over Dust Devils

Wichita Falls, Texas — In preparation for conference play, Southern Nazarene made the trip to Wichita Falls on Thursday for one of their two nonconference matchups of the week, facing Texas A&M International where they earned the 3-0 win.

It was a physical match overall as the Storm (2-2-1, 0-0 GAC/MIAA) and the Dust Devils (1-3, 0-0 LSC) combined for 19 total fouls. SNU excelled in the offensive category, taking 17 shots with eight on goal in the match.

The Storm began their attack early, firing seven shots in the first 25 minutes of the first half. At the 26th minute, SNU put their first score on the board as Daniel Trojman assisted Bruno Ferreira on the goal. Minutes later, Ferreira found Trojman in the gap for another Crimson Storm score, pushing SNU to a 2-0 start over the Dust Devils.

The first 45 minutes came to an and SNU headed into halftime up 2-0 over TAMUI.

Both teams battled the next half with SNU still in the lead. Shots were fired from both sides, but the score remained 2-0 for most of the second half. At the 78th minute, Alessandro Alfaro found an open Unaiz Shajani for SNU's third goal of the afternoon.

As play continued, the Dust Devils could not match the Storm's energy, allowing SNU to pick up another clean sheet with the 3-0 win over TAMUI.

Ferreira was all over the Dust Devils, finishing with four shots, two shots on goal, one goal, and one assist.

Trojman also added to SNU's fire, tallying two shots, one goal, and one assist.

Shajani had SNU's third goal, combined with his two shots on goal performance.

Southern Nazarene will suit up for one more nonconference match as they take on Midwestern State Saturday, September 10 at 7 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
