BETHANY – The Southern Nazarene women's soccer team closed out the regular season on Saturday with a showdown against Harding at Wes Harmon Field on Senior Day. After a hard-fought battle from both sides, the match ended in a 1-1 tie, the first draw of the season for SNU.
The Crimson Storm (1-4-1, 1-4-1 GAC) honored two seniors pregame,
Hanna Arthur and
Rebecca Moore, for their efforts in a Storm uniform. For the match, SNU fired 14 shots in the match, four of those on goal, as the Bisons (2-1-2, 2-1-2 GAC) doubled that effort with eight shots on frame. Both defenses were locked in all afternoon as there were just six combined corner kicks.
Last week's GAC Goalkeeper of the Week
Maci Attalla was at it again on Saturday, as she tallied a game-high seven saves in the contest.
Alejandra Andrade fired a team-high four shots in the match while
DeLaney Stewart took three.
Nikki Lohr,
Hanna Arthur,
Sydney Davenport and
Kaitlyn Deaton all recorded one shot on goal for the match while
Ashlee Ray recorded the match's only yellow card.
After 30 minutes of solid defense from both sides, Harding struck first with a goal to make it 1-0. The Crimson Storm scored the equalizer just one minute before half as Deaton fired a missile courtesy of a beautifully placed pass from
Karsyn Matthews. After that, both defenses dug in and wouldn't allow any more goals for the rest of the match.
Southern Nazarene closes the season 1-4-1 and will await their opponent for next week's GAC Championships.
