SNU Competes in Norman
The Storm turned in with six top-five finishes at the Chris Weilert Open on Saturday.

NORMAN, Okla. - Southern Nazarene traveled down to Norman on Saturday to compete in their second meet of the indoor season at the Chris Weilert Open, hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma. The Crimson Storm showed well as they were able to turn in six top-five finishes, one of those being a second place finish from Senior Myles Anderson in the 600 yard run.
The Women accounted for one of the top-five finishes, which was Senior Sophia Weishbruch, who finished in fourth place with a time of 1:36.57 in the 600 yard run. Others competing in the event were Lauren Grisham and Nancy Velazquez who earned eighth and ninth place finishes respectively. In the 60 meters race, Jamee Moore placed sixth with a time of 8.08.Â
Breyanna Brice led the Storm in the 200 meters as she collected an eighth place finish with a time of 27.52. Brice was followed by Jamee Moore and Abrianna Drake who finished in 11th (27.73) and 12th (27.86) place. Lauren Davidson was the lone top-ten finish in the 400 meter race for the Storm as she came in 10th place with a time of 1:07.47. Giovanna Valdez also competed in the 400 meter and finished at 14th place with a time of 1:09.46.
Rachel Hurtz notched a ninth place finish in the 800 meters event with a time of 2:32.64. Others competing in this race were Emma Green, Olivia Cavanaugh, and Lauryn Downs. In the 4x4 relay, the Storm finished in seventh place with a time of 4:25.43. To round off the women, Madalyn Harper placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:46.69 while Sabbatha Taylor finished at the 21st spot.Â
The Men accounted for five of the top-five finishes for the SNU track and field team on Saturday. Myles Anderson placed a team-best second place in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:16.84. Others placing in the race was Ryan Audette who finished in fifth (1:18.23) and Darris Blackshire who came in seventh place (1:19.42).Â
Christian Escritt led the way for the Storm as he finished in fourth place with a time of 2:05.61. Jesujoba Fabiyi placed shortly after in sixth place with a time of 2:09.51. In the 200 meters, D'Kari Smith came in eleventh place with a time of 23.48, the highest in the race for SNU.Â
Marc Turbyfill placed fifth place in the 400 meters to lead the Storm with a time of 53.10. Cashen Graham and Chrisian Hillary also competed and finished in 11th (56.17) and 13th (57.76) place. For distance, Zach McAlpin put up an eighth place finish in the 3000 meters run with a time of 9:24.95.Â
To round off the Men's side, the 4x4 relay team placed a season-best fifth place with a time of 3:37.59.Â
Southern Nazarene will return to action on January 31st at the PSU Invitational at Pittsburgsbug State University.Â
