SNU cross-country battled this morning at the OBU Invite

SHAWNEE, Okla. –
The Southern Nazarene University men's and women's cross-country teams were in action on Saturday morning at the Oklahoma Baptist University XC Invitational.
 
The women's team finished sixth out of eight teams while the men finished fifth out of six competing schools. On the women's side, Sabbatha Taylor paced the Crimson Storm with an excellent fifth place finish with a time of 19:25.80 in the 5K run. Madalyn Harper also had a great showing in the event as she finished 17th with a time of 20:21.60. Others competing for the Crimson Storm on the women's side were Emma Green who finished 30th (20:52.10), Rachel Hurtz in 35th (21:31.40), Olivia Cavanaugh in 37th (21:40.70), Lauryn Downs in 54th (23:50.6), Nancy Velazquez in 57th (24:01.90), Rebecca Warden in 58th (24:21.70), Sara Abbet in 62nd (24:55.60), Jenni Wedel in 63rd (25:05.30), Lauren Stitt in 64th (25:55.10), Sydney Elliott in 66th (26:50.70), and Lauren Boswell in 67th (28:35.30).
 
On the men's side, Zach McAplin led the way for Southern Nazarene with a 24th place finish with a time of 27:36.30 in the 8k run. Jose Pena also had a good showing as the senior placed 35th with a time of 28:23.50. Others competing for the men's team for the Crimson Storm were Christian Escritt in 39th (28:49.10), Taylor Hawkins in 41st (28:50.40), Joba Fabiyi in 44th (28:59.70), Jeremiah Martinez in 53rd (30:01.60), Garrison Bluhm in 54th (30:08.60), Abesolom Mekuria in 63rd (32:56.60), and Jarrod Ferguson in 64th (35:18.60).
 
East Central took home the victory on the women's side while Cameron secured the win on the men's side.
 
Southern Nazarene has next weekend off and will be back in action for the Great American Conference Championships on October 26th in Arkadelphia, Ark.
