WICHITA, Kan. — Shots were flying all over the place Saturday night as Southern Nazarene fell 5-3 on the road against Newman.

The Jets (3-0) fired an eye-popping 34 shots in the game, and landed 13 of those on goal. The Crimson Storm (1-3) took five shots in the game but all five of them were on target. Goalkeeper
Ashlynn Pritchett was on her heels from the opening kick as the sophomore tallied eight saves in the game.

Newman's Colleen Howard scored in the sixth minute and then again in the 23
rd minute to give the Jets an early 2-0 lead.
Kelsi Bussert notched her second goal of the season in the 35
th minute to cut the lead to 2-1, before Newman scored one minute before halftime to take a 3-1 lead into the break.

The Jets tacked on two more goals to open the half and extend their lead to 5-1 before the Storm made it interesting. Bussert netted another goal in the 70
th minute while
Ashley Owens scored her first goal of the season in the 74
th minute to make it 5-3. SNU got a couple more shots coming down the stretch but couldn't overcome the deficit.

Bussert landed all three of her shot attempts on goal, while Owens and
Maria Garcia each had a shot on goal for the Storm as well.
