BETHANY, Okla. — Jared Rangel scored his second goal of the season, but that was the lone goal of the night for the Crimson Storm in a 3-1 loss to Midwestern Sate in the home opener.
 
The Crimson Storm (0-4-0) found themselves in a quick hole after Midwestern State (2-0-1) scored in the eighth minute off of a Gabriel Cavalcante goal. MSU tacked on another goal in the 23rd minute on an Antonio Hernandez goal that gave MSU a 2-0 lead.
 
Rangel goal came in the 27th minute off of a penalty kick that brought score to 2-1 and brought some much needed energy to the Crimson Storm.
 
The Storm's burst of life was soon diminished by the Mustangs on a Jacob Hernandez goal that found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to give MSU a 3-1 lead.
 
SNU took ten shots, three on goal, while MSU had 30 shots, ten on goal.
 
The Storm used a combination of 
Jeff Ray and 
Colton Hadlock in goal. Ray recorded five saves and did not allow a goal in the second half. Hadlock recorded two saves and allowed three goals in teh first. MSU used a combination of Brice Gardner and Noah Fezekas in goal. Gardner recorded two saves and Fezekas allowed one goal.
