Storm Corral the Lady Buffs

Great defense leads SNU to second consecutive shutout

BETHANY, Okla. — After the first two games of the 2015 season, Southern Nazarene has yet to give up a single goal after notching another shutout in a 2-0 victory over West Texas A&M.

Southern Nazarene dominated the ball during the first half of play, recording 11 shots with six being on goal. They finally broke through in the 41st minute as reigning GAC Freshman of the Year Hannah Robinson scored her first goal of the year to give SNU a 1-0 lead.

The Crimson Storm got some insurance late in the game as Alyssa Glitzke recorded her first goal of the season off a corner kick by Kasey Throgmorton in the 89th minute.

The Lady Buffs were able to apply more pressure in the second half, but Natasha Fuentes was able to make several key saves to preserve the win. Fuentes, who was named the GAC Goalkeeper of the Week on Wednesday, recorded seven saves throughout the night, giving her a second consecutive shutout to start the season.
