Tigers Take Down Storm

SNU drops 2-1 contest at home to Ouachita

BETHANY, Okla. — For the second time this season, Southern Nazarene came up one goal short to Ouachita, falling Thursday afternoon, 2-1.

The Crimson Storm (5-8-0, 2-5-0 GAC) gave up the first two goals of the game, the first of which came in the 38th minute on a strike from Morgan Allen to put the Tigers on top. Ouachita took that lead into halftime, then wasted no time starting the second half. Just more than a minute into the second half, Haley Hatcher scored off an assist by Natalia Orteaga, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

SNU was able to cut the lead in half in the 72nd minute, thanks to a goal by Kasey Throgmorton that came off a free kick by Grace Self. Self just tapped the free kick to her right and Throgmorton slid it just inside the left post for the goal. The Crimson Storm had several chances to pull even with time winding down, but were not able to find the back of the net.

After the Tigers dominated the ball for the majority of the first half, SNU was able to outshoot Ouachita 11-7 in the second half. Through the entire game, Ouachita held the advantage 17-15 in shots and 11-5 in shots on goal.

With nine saves on the day, Natasha Fuentes moved to fourth in SNU history with 196 career saves. Lauren Llanes recorded four saves for the Tigers.
