A Rainy Day in New Mexico

SNU fights hard in a 1-0 loss to Eastern New Mexico

Box Score PORTALES, N.M. — Southern Nazarene fought hard through the rainy conditions, but they were unable to put the ball in the net in a 1-0 loss to Eastern New Mexico.
 
The Zias (2-3-0) got on the board in the tenth minute when Victoria Perez headed Carolyn Armijo's corner kick into the net for a 1-0 lead. The Crimson Storm (2-3-0) attempted five shots in the first half, including Mallary Pineda's three shots on goal.
 
The second half was filled with action as the teams attempted 16 shots between them. Neither team was able to capitalize as the Zias put five shots on goal and the Crimson Storm only put one shot on goal. Natasha Fuentes recorded five saves in the second half to keep SNU in the game, but they were unable to put the ball in the net to tie the game.
 
Eastern New Mexico attempted 14 shots in the game with seven of them being on goal. Southern Nazarene attempted ten shots with four of them being on goal.
 
SNU's Fuentes recorded six saves and Eastern New Mexico's Alyxandra Ortiz had four saves.
 
Southern Nazarene travels to Midwestern State for their next game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
