Bulldogs Spoil Conference Opener

Southwestern Oklahoma State defeated Southern Nazarene in the Storm's first Great American Conference Contest of the season.

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. —  Southern Nazarene looked to be controlling possession in the first half but two quick goals in the second half ruined the Great American Conference opener for the Crimson Storm in a 2-0 loss.

"Overall I feel like we played really well," said Head Coach Julie Duncan. "We possessed the ball. When we had to deal with the wind, we defended it well. It was a good game on our part, we just made a couple mistakes and they capitalized on it."

It was a slow first half as neither team could get anything going offensively and the score was tied 0-0 at halftime.  Southern Nazarene (4-3, 0-1 GAC) took four shots in the first half while Southwestern Oklahoma State took five.

The Bulldogs (4-3-1, 1-0 GAC) got the offense going in the second half. Jessica Carbonara assisted Eva Rule in the 56th minute to give Rule her first goal of the season and Southwestern Oklahoma State the 1-0 lead. Just minutes later, the Bulldogs scored in the 58th minute as Charlotte Eastman scored from 20 yards out on a free kick.

Southwestern Oklahoma State attempted 13 shots and five were on target. Southern Nazarene had 13 shots and three were on frame. Yoli Zamarripa had three saves for the Storm.
