Box Score

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Tatiane Carvalho notched her first goal of the season for Southern Nazarene University as they knocked off Rogers State 1-0, and completed a double sweep of both RSU's men's and women's teams.

SNU (2-1) put on a defensive clinic from the start against the Hillcats (0-1) who could not score against the Storm giving SNU its second straight shutout.

"We came out in the beginning really strong," said Head Coach Julie Duncan. "We played with confidence. Their keeper was really strong and made a lot of good saves."

Neither team could get any shots to go until the 84th minute when Carvalho got the pass from Mallory Pineda and put it in the frame to give the Storm the 1-0 lead. The Storm would not give up another shot the rest of the game to secure the victory.

"Mallory laid it down and put it all the way back toward the top of the goal," Duncan said. "Tati took a run at it and put it in the far corner."

The Storm only allowed five shots on the night and only one shot on goal as Natasha Fuentes recorded her second straight shutout and had one save. SNU attempted 21 shots and seven of those were on goal.

Next up for the Storm is the home opener, Friday, as SNU hosts Missouri Southern State at 7 p.m.
