Bisons Outpace Storm

Edgar Pineda scored two goals for Southern Nazarene on Thursday night, but the Storm lost 3-2.

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Edgar Pineda scored his ninth goal of the season in the 58th minute to give Southern Nazarene a 2-1 lead, but Harding scored in the 59th and 73rd minutes to defeat Southern Nazarene 3-2.
 
With 27 minutes left in the first half, Southern Nazarene (2-13-0, 1-6 MIAA) was given a free kick. The Storm chose the leading goal scorer on the team to take the kick and he delivered. Pineda scored from 20 yards out to put SNU ahead of Harding 1-0. The Bisons found a way to tie the score right before halftime. With only two minutes to go in the first half, Harding's Josh Ireland found Jeremy Rector on a cross-field pass and he put it in the right corner of the goal to tie the game 1-1 headed into the break.
 
Harding (5-5-3, 3-4-0 MIAA) took nine shots in the first half and three of them were on frame. SNU took six shots and two were on goal.
 
Pineda was awarded another penalty kick with 37 minutes left in the second half and scored again to give him his second goal of the game and gave SNU a 2-1 lead. The Bison's answered right back though, In the 59th minute Rector received the assist from Barry Foster and headed it in the goal to tie the game 2-2. The Bison's scored the games final goal with only 18 minutes to play after Cole Walker crossed a pass to Jacob Stevens and he put it in the right corner of the net to give Harding a 3-2 win.
 
Southern Nazarene took 13 shots for the game and six were on target. Harding attempted 18 shots and 11 were on goal.
 
The Crimson Storm will now get set to host Northeastern State, Saturday, for a 7 p.m. MIAA contest.
