Shutout, Seventh Edition

Southern Nazarene forced their seventh shutout of the season Sunday afternoon defeating Harding 1-0.

Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — When Southern Nazarene wins, it comes by way of a shutout. For the seventh time this season Southern Nazarene held its opponenet scoreless in a 1-0 win over Harding.
 
SNU (7-5, 3-2 GAC) got on the board first in the 28th minute after Kayla Miller corralled a corner kick from Sherri Collins that gave the Storm a 1-0 halftime lead.
 
"Each game (Miller) has gotten better," said Head Coach Julie Duncan. "Today she played 90 solid minutes for us and we really needed it and as a result she got a goal."
 
SNU outshot the Bisons (2-8-1, 0-5 GAC) 12-1 in the first half. Five of the Storm's 12 shots were on goal.
 
The Storm were unable to score another goal in the second half, but it didn't matter as the Storm forced their seventh shutout of the season and held on for the win. Every win for the Storm this season has been a shutout. SNU outshot the Bisons 14-2 in the second half.
 
Southern Nazarene had 26 shots for the game and 10 were on goal. The Bisons were only able to tally three shots and only one was on goal. Yoli Zamarripa had one save for the Storm.
 
"I'm real pleased with the way the defense played," Duncan said. "The intensity was good the whole game and we stayed consistent."
 
Southern Nazarene will now travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State, Friday, for a 2 p.m. Great American Conference game.
