Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Hajime Chumpitaz scored his third goal of the season for Southern Nazarene as SNU dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 20 Northeastern State.
The Crimson Storm (0-9, 0-3 MIAA) held a 1-0 lead for more than 43 minutes, but watched the lead slip through their hands in the second half.
The Storm struck first in the 17
th minute when
Javier Caballeros floated a pass over the NSU defense and found
Hajime Chumpitaz running down the middle and the junior scored to the bottom right side to give SNU a 1-0 lead at intermission.
The Riverhawks though answered in the 60
th minute when Edgar Gonzalez ripped a shot from just outside the box near the left baseline and scored to top right of the goal to knot it at 1-1. Bo White put the game away in the 89
th minute when he bounced a header home off an Edgar Gonzaga corner kick.
Blake Anderson came up big for Southern Nazarene with 10 saves, including a big stop on a penalty kick. Northeastern put 12 of its 29 shots on goal. The Crimson Storm put two of their nine shots on frame.
The Crimson Storm will now get set to host Southwest Baptist, Thursday, for a 3 p.m. MIAA contest.
