Taking a Deep Breath

Southern Nazarene takes its fourth straight

Schaub scored her first goal of the year.
Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Relief is probably the only emotion Southern Nazarene feels Friday night after SNU left Ouachita Baptist with a 1-0 win over the Lady Tigers.

The Crimson Storm (7-4-1, 3-2-1 GAC) pounded the OBU goal and held the Lady Tigers to just five total shots, but it wasn't until Mallary Schaub broke a scoreless tie in the 80th minute that SNU took that needed deep breath. SNU took 21 shots and put 10 on goal, forcing OBU's Shelby Shepherd to make nine saves.

Yoli Zamarripa stopped all three shots put on goal by the Lady Tigers as the freshman recorded her fourth shutout of the year.

“When you're controlling possession and getting good looks, but no results tension starts to build,” said SNU Head Coach Julie Duncan. “We started to get a bit anxious and tried to force some things, but thankfully Mallary got that goal and that gave enough relief. We're just glad to keep winning.”

Schaub scored the only goal of the game after take a cross from Nancy Williams and found the back of the net to help give the Crimson Storm their fourth straight win.

SNU will now get set to play at Harding, Sunday, at 1 p.m.
