BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene will enter Sooner Athletic Conference play on the right foot after SNU knocked off the Great American Conference favorite Southwestern Oklahoma State, 3-1.
The Crimson Storm (5-2) scored all three goals in the second half after trailing 1-0 in the 51st minute. It took more than 50 minutes to break the scoreless tie until Kelsey Visor took a center pass from Courtney Hailey and gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
Less than six minutes later Bruna Da Cas put SNU on the board off a pass from Jackie Acevedo. Da Cas gave SNU the lead for good in the 60th minute on a penalty kick before Macy Redwine put it away with the first goal of her career in the 72nd minute off an Acevedo assist.
Rachael Wade recorded four saves on the night as SWOSU (1-6-1) put five of its nine shots on goal. The Storm put half of its 16 shots on goal and forced Corey LaMoureaux to make five saves.
Southern Nazarene will now host Northwestern Oklahoma State, Thursday, at 5 p.m. to open conference play.
