Lubbock Let Down

Lubbock Christian bounced back from being down 2-0 to beat SNU

Box Score

LUBBOCK, Texas --- Lubbock Christian must have had a straight pin hidden, because the Chaparrals poked a small enough hole to deflate the balloon that Southern Nazarene had built in the first half.

The Crimson Storm (2-8-0, 1-4-0, SAC) led 2-0 through the first half and 8:39 in the second, but the Chaparrals (8-2-1, 2-2-0 SAC) scored three goals in the second half to pull off the comeback.

Blake Rodgers put SNU on the board in the 15th minute when he scored his third goal of the season on a pass from Josh Thomas. The Crimson Storm struck again in 33rd minute when Ryan Allen netted his second goal of the season off a Cory Nolan pass.

LCU didn't even get on the board until the 54th minute when Jorge Martinez headed in a corner kick from Gabriel Mendoza and the Chaps tied the game just five minutes later when Tony Valera set Dustin Jones up with a pass at the top of box and he fired home the game-tying goal.

Quinton Jackson the scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute when he rebounded a Jones shot on goal and slipped it past SNU keeper Kenton Farris.

Farris made tied his season-high in saves with nine as LCU put 12 of its 33 shots on goal. SNU took 19 shots with eight being on goal and forced the Chaps keeper, Cameron Wise to make six saves.

The Crimson Storm return back to Wes Harmon field, Saturday, when they host Wayland Baptist for a 3 p.m. SAC contest.
