SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. — Southern Nazarene picked up a much needed win and did it on the road with a 2-0 shutout over John Brown.
It was the first shutout and win away from Bethany for the Crimson Storm (2-5, 1-1 SAC) who rebounded after losing the conference opener.
SNU keeper Kenton Farris had four saves during the course of the shutout.
SNU scored quickly, just nine minutes into the first half when freshman Blake Rodgers put the first score on the board. Niether team gained an advantage from that point on through the rest of half. SNU shot eight times, four of those shots were on goal. JBU shot the ball nine times, four of which were on goal, though none found the back of net.
The second half began as the first half ended, with both teams evenly matched. However, on a big push up the field later in the half, sophomore Jakob Jones buried the second SNU goal in the back of the JBU net, to make the score 2-0.
Final stats were unavailable.
SNU now gets set for a battle with Oklahoma Baptist, Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
