Packing Up Some Gold

Southern Nazarene picked up two national titles and an NCCAA record

Piatt was one of eight Storm who earned NCCAA All-American honors.

The trophy case just got a little more crowded as Southern Nazarene brought home a lot more hardware on the final night of the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
 
The highlight of the night was the final event of the night as the men's 4x400-meter relay not only smoked the rest of the field, but set the NCCAA National Championships record. Rilwan Jimoh, Korey Eakers, Kentrell Miller and Sterling Wright combined to post a 3:22.32. The previous best time was set by King College in 2011.
 
Grayson Haws also claimed a national title as the freshman finished over a second ahead of the nearest competitor in the 800-meters with a time of 1:55.54.
 
Michael Piatt earned All-American status in the pole vault as he cleared 4.58 meters (15-feet, 0.3-inches) to take second. Kalicia Williams also picked up an All-American nod as she recorded a 13.03-meter throw in the shot put to take second place. Jackie Stevens also took 10th in the in the shot as he posted a 11.72-meter throw.
 
Eakers and Jimoh took fourth and sixth in the 400-meter dash at 50.82 and 50.95 while Wright and Miller went 11th and 12th in the 200-meter dash as Wright posted a 23.11 and Miller ran a 23.19.
 
Jamie Hope just missed All-American status as she cleared 1.60 meters (5-feet, 3-inches), finishing seventh.
 
Andrew Leahey took eighth in the one-mile at 4:29.81. Hunter Stanley took 10th in the high jump as he cleared 1.86 meters (6-feet, 1.3-inches). CJ Hornback finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles as she ran a 9.75 in the finals.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Raven McDaniel, Cierra Johnson, Brooke Witt and Hornback combined to take 13th with a time of 4:13.07.
 
The men's team finished eight at 38 points while the women took 12th with 17.50 points. Azusa Pacific took home the men's title while Shorter captured the women's crown.
