MIAA Preseason Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The new day is here and so is the task at hand. A new conference and a new goal has been set as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released its preseason men's soccer coaches' poll.
Southern Nazarene is expected to finish seventh in the MIAA and received 17 points, just two behind Harding (Ark.). Fort Hays State (Kan.) took the top spot with four first place votes and 46 points. Northeastern State (Okla.) and Lindenwood (Mo.) each split two first place votes, but NSU garnered 41 points while Lindenwood had 40.
It is the first preseason poll for the MIAA since 1998. The MIAA sponsored men's soccer during the 1981-88 seasons and then against from 1994-98.
This is the first year for Southern Nazarene as an associate member of the MIAA. SNU and Harding are the only two members of the Great American Conference that sponsor men's soccer.
The 2012 season kicks off Aug. 30 in Canyon, Texas, as SNU takes on West Texas A&M.
