Box Score

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. —
Just two days after losing its only extra inning game of the year, No. 19 Southern Nazarene picked up its first extra inning win of the year with a 4-3 upset of No. 3 Oklahoma City. The second game was postponed at the conclusion of the third inning due to severe weather rapidly approaching Oklahoma City.

The Crimson Storm (31-14, 14-5 SAC) gave OCU only its second loss on the field in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The Stars (26-17, 11-4 SAC) had to forfeit 15 games this season and that included two SAC games to Mid-America Christian. SNU is the only team in the SAC to have defeated OCU on the field of play.

Kaci Crawford (13-7) recorded her second straight win over OCU's Lily LaVelle (27-2). Both of LaVelle's losses this season have come against Crawford and Southern Nazarene. The senior gave up just three runs and scattered eight hits and just one of those hits came in the final three innings.

Kristina Forest came up clutch for SNU, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and had the game-tying home run in the fifth.

The Stars struck first with two in the bottom half of the first before SNU took advantage of an OCU error to close it to 2-1. OCU got a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second before another Stars' error made it a 3-2 game.

The Crimson Storm tied the game in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to straight away center by Forest.

After two scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh, SNU had Katie Turner on second to start the eighth with the international tiebreaker rule. A wild pitch pushed Turner to third before Aubrey Jones delivered the go-ahead run with a single to right. Crawford then retired the side in order in the eighth to secure the win.

The Stars has a 1-0 lead through three innings of play in the third before the game was called and postponed until a later date.

The Crimson Storm will now get set to host Mid-America Christian, Saturday, at 1 p.m. for senior day.
