Tiebreaking Through

SNU wins three tiebreakers to knock off OBU

Moreno battled back from being down 1-0 to winning the match at No. 2 singles.
SHAWNEE, Okla. — No. 10 Southern Nazarene won its fourth straight match with an 8-1 win over No. 21 Oklahoma Baptist and even bettered its previous performance over the Lady Bison just two weeks ago.

The only match that SNU dropped was at No. 1 doubles as SNU took the eight remaining matches. The Storm were tested and had to win three different tiebreakers at No. 1, 2 and 6 singles, but came out on the right side of all three. At No. 1 Masha Andrianova had to battle back from dropping her first set 6-1, but rebounded to take the second and won the tiebreaker 10-7. Natalia Moreno also dropped the first set at No. 2, but quickly went through the second set and survived the tiebreaker at 11-9. Kimberly Widemann pulled out a big win at No. 6 in the first set at 7-6 and then won the tiebreaker at 10-8 after falling 6-1 in the second set.

SNU will now get set to host NCAA Division II Northeastern State (Okla.), Thursday, at 3 p.m.
