EDMOND, Okla. — Southern Nazarene scored six runs in the top of the ninth score a 9-3 win over Central Oklahoma, Saturday afternoon.
The Crimson Storm (7-14) were able to scatter nine hits from UCO and never trailed before putting it away in the ninth.
SNU had a 3-0 lead through the fifth after a
James Tunnell single in the third and back-to-back base hits by
Josh Riley and
Riley Morrow in the fourth. UCO cut it to 3-1 in the sixth and then 3-2 in the seventh before SNU unloaded in the top of the ninth. Morrow drove in the first run with a double before
Ryan Williams drove home two more with a two-out double.
Nate Saquilon made it 7-2 with a single before Basnight drove home the final two with a double.
The Storm gave up another run in the ninth, but that was it for UCO. Basnight moved to 2-0 on the year after he tossed the first six innings. He gave up just two runs on four hits and struck out eight.
Chris Eastham,
Tim Coleman and
David Kaplan all threw an inning of relief.
Morrow went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Williams with 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
SNU will now get set to travel to OCU, Tuesday, for a 7 p.m. game.
