Sweeping Up The Bison

Southern Nazarene completed a sweep of OBU

Marra is averaging 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds over the past six games.

SHAWNEE, Okla. — From the opening tip to the final buzzer, No. 17 Southern Nazarene put on a clinic in completing the sweep of Oklahoma Baptist with a 69-45 win Thursday night.

Abbey Marra scored a game high 18 points and added 11 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. The senior center went 7-for-14 from the field and had five of her boards on the offensive end. Sharmeda Johnson added 13 points and eight rebounds as the Storm had just two players in double figures, but 10 different players got on the board.

The Crimson Storm (18-7, 12-5 SAC) held OBU to just 30.8 percent from the field and gave up just three 3-poitners all night. SNU struggled from the field, shooting just 35.5 percent, but forced 21 OBU turnovers and dominated on the glass pulling down 52 rebounds compared to just 30 by the Lady Bison.

The Crimson Storm quickly got out to an 11-2 lead and put the foot through the floor the entire first half. OBU led 16-7 when Ashley Mantooth buried a jumper and Kristin Milster hit a trey to give SNU a 21-7 lead at the 10:36 mark in the first half. The Storm took its biggest lead of the half at 33-17 on an Annie Kassongo bucket before take a 35-20 lead at the half.

The Storm pushed it out to 37-20 to start the second half before OBU scored eight straight to cut it to 37-28, but the Storm answered right back with a 14-4 run to lead 51-32 and it was all SNU from there.

The Crimson Storm have won two straight and will now host Saint Gregory's, Saturday, at 3 p.m.
