Box Score

ALVA, Okla. — No. 23 Southern Nazarene made one of the hardest places to play in the Sooner Athletic Conference look like it was a walk in the park with a 78-61 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State, Thursday night.

The win puts the Crimson Storm (19-8, 12-7 SAC) in a position to lock up one of the top four seeds in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament with a win over Oklahoma Christian, Saturday.

Southern Nazarene got a big night out of two of its seniors as they combined for 38 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Jon West scored a game-high 22 points as he was 7-for-10 from the field, 4-for-5 from 3-point range and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Daniel White notched his fourth double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also dished out four assists.

SNU also got 13 points off of the bench from Ryan Aaron who went 5-for-7 from the field. Tyrone Lyons added 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and seven boards and also notched a pair of blocks to bring his season total to 50.

The Crimson Storm shot 56.6 percent (30-for-53) from the field and buried seven treys. It was the 12th time this season SNU has shot over 50 percent from the field and the seventh time in conference play. The Storm were also 50 percent from the field when the Rangers played inside the Sawyer Center back in January.

SNU held Northwestern to 39.7 percent from the field and averaged a point per Ranger turnover as the Storm forced 15 from NOSU.

Northwestern only held a lead for the first five minutes of the game and were up 9-7 when West's jumper sparked a 7-2 run and SNU never trailed again. The Storm broke open the game in the final six minutes of play as White ignited a 12-1 run to close the half and gave Southern Nazarene a 38-24 lead going into the locker room.

The lead never came back inside double digits as the Storm cruised to its second straight win. SNU will now host Oklahoma Christian, Saturday, at 5 p.m. and with a win would secure at least fourth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
