Box Score BETHANY, Okla. — Steam is starting to build as the train is starting to gain some speed and momentum for Southern Nazarene as SNU won its third straight match with a 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-21) win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The win also keeps the Crimson Storm (7-9, 5-1 GAC) undefeated at home inside the Sawyer Center at 6-0.
It was a dig fest in Bethany as the two teams combined for 169 digs and SNU had a season-high 85 digs.
Emma Krottinger posted a career-high 18 as she was one of three Crimson Storm players with double-figure digs.
Natalia Oliveira notched her sixth double-double of the season with 16 digs and a match-high 13 kills. She also had two aces.
Sheridan Steele also tied her career-high for digs with 14.
Ellen Martin posted her second straight match with double figure kills as she ripped 10 and added three digs.
Taylor Chase dished out a match-high 35 assists and nearly had a double-double with eight digs. She also served a pair of aces.
Kira Roberts also posted three blocks and five kills.
Oliveira had five of her kills in the opening set. The Crimson Storm led 6-5 early in the set when Oliveira sparked a 10-6 run to give SNU a 16-11 lead. The Savage Storm answered with a 7-2 run to tie it at 18 and force an SNU timeout. Oliveira and
Emily Dick ripped back-to-back kills and SNU got an error to take a 21-18 lead. The Savage Storm closed it to 21-19, but an
Ellen Martin kill ignited 4-1 run to end the set and give SNU a 1-0 lead.
Southeastern quickly climbed out to a 12-6 lead, but the Crimson Storm fired right back with a 10-2 run to take a 16-14 lead. SNU stretched the advantage to 18-15 on a
Cortney Sheid kill, but SOSU responded with an 8-3 to lead 23-21 and had set point at 24-22. SNU got two straight errors from the Savage Storm and then got two straight kills from Oliveira and Martin to close out the set.
It was all Crimson Storm in the final as SNU raced out to a 10-4 lead and never looked back. The Storm increased the lead to 18-7 with an 8-3 run capped by an Oliveira ace and were up 19-7 before SOSU began to chip away at the lead. The Savage Storm used a 14-5 run to cut it to 24-21, but a Southeastern error gave the set and match to SNU.
